Pros And Cons Of Health Care Bill, Will You Benifit From The Health Care Reform?

After a yearlong partisan struggle., president Obama eventually got a victory over his opponent and signed the health care bill into law in the East Room of the White House. Health care reform is closely linked to everyone of us. To President Obama or other senators, the health care system reform is a political means, however, it is about life and future to average American. So, what does it means of "an end to the current health care system as we know it."? Do we really benefit form the newly voted health care system? The following article will give you some points.

Key Points of Health Care Bill

The health care reform legislation papers are 2,309 pages long written in an alien form of bureaucratic English. In order to put things simple, the following will lists some key points of the reform.

• Cost: 940 billion dollars will be used in the next decades.
• Beneficiaries: 32 million people who are uninsured.
• Insurance mandate: nearly every average America is required to be insured or else pay a fine.
• Insurance market reforms: from now on, insurers can not placing lifetime dollar limits on policies, from denying coverage to children because of pre-existing conditions and from canceling policies because someone gets sick. Insurers are forbidden from charge women more and deny coverage if you get sick or cancel coverage already issued except in the case of fraud. Young people up to age 26 may remain on their parents` insurance policy.
• Subsidies: Individuals and families who make between 100 percent - 400 percent of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) and want to purchase their own health insurance on an exchange are eligible for subsidies.
• Medicare: Closes the Medicare prescription drug "donut hole" by 2020. Beginning in 2011, seniors in the gap will receive a 50 percent discount on brand name drugs.
• Employer Mandate: Companies employing more than 50 people will be required to offer a health plan to their employees or face a fine.

Cons and Pros of Health Care Bill

Every policy has its cons and pros, no exception of this reform of health care system.

Main Pros:

1. Everyone in the country who wants and will pay the expenses will get insured; 2. Pre-existing conditions to be covered; 3. Lower the prescription cost; 4. There's no need for the insured person to cover the cost of the unsured person, equal coverage for all. 5. No financial burden on our children and care for the elderly. 6. Medical malpractice reform.

Main Cons:

1. Reform will not cut the cost. 2. Although the bill created many rules for the insurance providers, there are no policy now defines how health care providers can charge. So, the health care providers may increase coverage rates.
